I developed my writing skills with my internships at Gallatin Publishing Company and Mizzou Athletics Strategic Communication. I also took a News class at the Missouri School of Journalism. As a result, I have a lot of experience writing feature stories on athletes. Although, it was nice to get out of my comfort zone to write the community issue story on the cooling centers in Columbia, Mo.
Ryan Bernskoetter is a pitcher for the Rock Bridge High School baseball team. For my News class, I talked to him about how he overcame an elbow injury in his senior year to help his team win the 2014 Missouri state championship.
Tania Jackson transferred from Kansas to play basketball for the Missouri Tigers in the 2013-2014 season. As a part of Mizzou Athletics Strategic Communication, I talked to her about her transfer and her new teammates.
Jett Simmons is a youth golfer from Gallatin, Missouri. In 2013, he competed in the Optimist International Golf Tournament in Florida. I wrote this profile on Jett as a part of Gallatin Publishing Company.
The City of Columbia organized cooling centers to help people get relief from the heat in the summer of 2014. For my News class, I investigated whether they were effective and necessary or not.
Brice Garnett is a PGA golfer from Gallatin, Missouri. As a part of Gallatin Publishing Company, I talked to him about his life on tour and his preparation for a 2013 tournament.
Ten athletes from Gallatin High School competed in the 2013 MSHSAA state track championships. As a part of Gallatin Publishing Company, I covered the team as they took home multiple medals and new school records.
